Gateway Center has been designated an Illinois/Madison County Covid Vaccination site.

  • What effect will this have on DieCon dates of June 11-13, 2021? - This will have no effect on your event!

DieCon event will have a mandatory one-way traffic flow for entering and exiting.

  • Will this be set up only for entering/exiting Gateway Center? – Yes, TBA.
  • Will this be set up for entering/exiting DieCon function space? – Yes, TBA
  • Who will be taking attendees temperatures as they enter Gateway Center? – This will be something Gateway Center staff will handle.
  • How will this be handled? – Gateway Center will have a staff member stationed at the entrance of the building, taking temperatures of all staff, volunteers, vendors, and attendees entering the building. If their temperature is above 100.4 degrees, they will not be permitted to enter the building.
  • All DieCon attendees and Gateway Center staff will be required to wear a mask while inside of the building at all times, when 6-feet social distancing cannot be maintained.
    • The only exception is while eating or drinking.
  • Lines for restrooms or check-in.
    • 6ft space markers will be placed visibly on the floor.

Attendance Caps are based on current levels identified by Madison County and/or State of Illinois.

  • If Attendance caps are increased will DieCon attendance cap increase at same percentage? – Yes! We are currently basing capacity numbers on giving each attendee an 6x6 square foot area of space to allow for social distancing.
  • The reverse if attendance caps are decreased will DieCon’s attendance decrease at same percentage? – Due to our facility being a multi-event function space, we do not anticipate decreasing the capacity limits from the above stated 6x6 square foot area per guest.
  • DieCon is currently capped at 410 paid attendees.
  • Notice will be posted on DieCon website and FB when there is change to capped number.

·         Registration – All tickets/reservations will be sold for both the in-person event and online based event prior to the event date.

New Caterer at Gateway Center:  Old Herald Brewery

  • Will we be able to meet with Old Herald Brewery to discuss food options? – Yes, we certainly can set up a meeting to discuss concession items however, the final menu will be at the discretion of Old Herald, similar to the way Spectra handled their concession stand.
  • When would we be able to meet with Old Herald Brewery? – TBD
  • No Water Stations.  Unfortunately, we have ended our contract with Spectra Food Services so, we no longer offer the water stations. We do have a great partnership with Old Herald Brewery (who will be providing concessions for your group), and they are able to provide bottled water for guests to purchase! We also have several water fountains throughout the building that your group is welcome to utilize. Another option is, guests are welcome to bring in their own water during your event.

Tables have been limited to four guests per table (preferably from the same household), with 6ft of space between each table.

  • DieCon is a game convention not a banquet. While most Tabletop board games are set up for a maximum of four players.  Roleplaying Games and miniatures are run for 4-6 players plus a game master to run the game. Our attendees come from all over the Midwest to play tabletop games/events with other attendees they have met at DieCon and other conventions. The chance of everyone at the table from one family is very remote.  Possible but unlikely. What effect does this have on DieCon? – We will place 4-6 chairs per table in your space, so the tables are not over-crowded. The attendees do not have to be from the same household, this is just a recommendation.
  • What specifically does “6ft of space between each table” definition mean? – When placing tables around your space, we will a lot for 6ft of space between each table no matter the table type. We simply want to ensure your guests have enough space to walk around the tables without being too close to another player.
  • Will we still be able to use pipe-n-drape around tables as past years? - Yes

Event player limitation per game type:

  • RPG tables limited to 5 players plus GM
  • Table top games limited to 4-6 players minus 1 for GM.
  • Miniature Tables limited to 5 players plus GM
  • Card Games limited to 4 players per table

Cleaning and Disinfecting:

  • Gateway Convention Center will undertake deep cleaning before, during and after the Diecon on June 11th – June 13th 2021 to ensure the highest level of hygiene and cleanliness.
  • Gateway Convention Center event staff will clean high-touch points throughout the event, provide hand sanitizing stations spread within the event floor and encourage regular hand washing.
  • Gateway housekeeping staff will disinfect restrooms every 30 minutes.
